Singapore: light bulbs sold locally from 2023 to meet minimum Energy Saving Standards

Oct 30, 2018

Singapore's National Environment Agency recently announced that all bulbs sold locally will be at least as energy-efficient as LED bulbs from 2023.

At the same time, the Environment Agency will raise the "basic Energy consumption Standard" (Minimum Energy Performance Standards,) for bulbs, known as MEPS), to phase out halogen bulbs, (halogen bulbs), to encourage consumers to use more energy-efficient bulbs. It is reported that this will save local families 3.5 million yuan a year in electricity bills.

In addition, the Environment Agency will expand the mandatory Energy labelling Scheme (Mandatory Energy Labelling Scheme,) for MELS), and require local media to display the energy labels of electrical products when promoting them.
