LED Lights Can Also Be Embedded In The Road When The Zebra Crossing? Revealing The New Direction Of Smart City

Jan 29, 2018

A new type of LED-light traffic system embedded in the road has been put on trial in London to detect pedestrians and other vehicles and to alert drivers of possible dangers by changing road lights and line numbers in real time according to road conditions. Especially when pedestrians or bicycles appear in the blind area of the car driver's sight, the road will show red light warning.

The new pavement, embedded in LED lights, was developed by British company Umbrellium and auto insurers Direct Line. In addition to embedded led pavements, the system also includes high-definition cameras to capture information about pedestrians and vehicles, and assist systems to make real-time feedback.

Zebra Crossing and road safety has always been an important and complex part of the mass transit system, but from the 1940 's, the prototype of zebra crossing design to the traffic is highly developed today, the way people cross the road is not much change. And the increase of traffic accidents makes the perfect zebra crossing and pedestrian traffic system become the necessary consideration for the future intelligent city design.

LED lamp-changing charging station, Wi-Fi service available

Street lamp is another application of LED in Intelligent city traffic system. According to Philips survey data, the world's more than 300 million street lamps, of which less than 10% of the use of LED light bulbs, but can centrally control the switch and monitor the situation of the lamp is less than 1%.

In the future of Intelligent city, led street lights will not only because more energy-efficient and become the mainstream, LED street lamp pole will also be big change body, one thing more use. Anglo Tower and Philips Lighting Company jointly developed an intelligent street lamp, not only to provide energy-saving LED lighting, but also as a telecommunications provider to provide wireless network coverage of the facilities, but also to integrate into the urban landscape, play the role of landscape lighting.

In San Diego, smart streetlights with sensing capabilities will be increased from more than 40 pilots to 3,600, detecting a range of 160 square miles, equivalent to half the city. This street lamp is designed by GE's current design and works with Intel, T, ShotSpotter and other vendors to provide more meta applications, including monitoring air pollution, surrounding traffic and parking information, and tracking the source of gunfire when the shootings occur.

In the UK, the Government, in collaboration with clean energy maker Ovo and German technology company Ubitricity, has been revamping a small number of streetlights to provide charging services for electric vehicles, in response to the UK's 2040 ban on motor vehicles and the full implementation of the policy on electric cars and clean energy.

And in China, with the development of Nb-iot, intelligent Street lamp is also accelerated popularization. Intelligent control of urban lighting will become the mainstream in the future. Huawei, Shanghai think twice and other manufacturers provide intelligent street lighting solutions, collection sensors, security monitoring, information dissemination, network, charging, emergency call and other functions.
